Happy 65th Birthday Harrison!

I just wanted to mark the occasion of Harrison Ford‘s 65th Birthday with a post and to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! He’s been a favourite actor of mine for as long as I can remember and I find it hard to believe that the great man has reached this distinguished age. Long may you continue giving us truly exceptional performances – I am looking forward to both “Crossing Over” and the long anticipated fourth instalment of Indiana Jones.

De Niro & Pacino to star together again

I was thrilled to read that Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are to star together in another film – this will be only the second time they’ve appeared on screen together which seems unbelievable.

The first occasion was for the 1995 film “Heat” in which they only shared two scenes. They were in both in The Godfather Part II but their characters never met on screen. It will be fantastic to see these truly great actors of our time appearing together throughout a film. According to Variety Magazine the crime thriller will be called “Righteous Kill” in which they will play two police investigators hunting a serial killer. Let’s hope the script can rise to this monumental task!

I can not wait to see this film which has had its release date set back and back because it wasn’t well received at the Venice Film Festival last year! It is out on the 26th January at last.

What if you could live forever?

The plot outline spans over a thousand years, with three parallel stories interweaving. It is an epic tale of love, death, spirituality, and the fragility of our existence in this world.

Rachel Weisz is one of my favourite actresses and The Fountain is directed by her partner Darren Aronofsky. It also stars the wonderful Hugh Jackman. The trailer looks spectacular, the story unlike anything I have ever read or seen and visually it looks stunning. I can’t imagine I will be disappointed.

Miss Potter

Went to see this film yesterday afternoon… I spent the second half permanently wiping tears from my eyes!! It was beautifully filmed, wonderfully acted and extremely touching. Renée Zellweger never ceases to surprise me, here she was looking all ruddy complexioned and outdoorsy with a perfect English accent, not a hint of Texan. Ewan McGregor was also brilliant as her publisher.

I read Beatrix Potter’s books as a child and loved the ballet which was made (no idea when that was) but it is a long time since I’ve been familiar with Jemima Puddleduck, Jeremy Fisher, Peter Rabbit and friends. Her drawings were exquisite and she had a magical imagination. She is the bestselling childrens author of all time apparently and had to fight free from the constraints of her upbringing, parents expectations to become a very pioneering woman in the early 20th century. I am so glad her amazing life has been brought to the big screen with such sensitivity for all to enjoy and learn from.
