I created this poster using a photo taken earlier today and a great website. The hardest part is thinking up some funny or deeply meaningful text to put with it!

Bournemouth fire gardens display

Me beside one of the most spectacular of the displays, originally uploaded by Light Reflections.

What an incredible evening, I’d never seen anything like this before. For three nights in September the Lower Gardens in Bournemouth are transformed by the Carabosse artists of France. They are fire alchemists who create incredible atmospheric structures laced with hundreds of flaming firepots, mechanical fire machines, charcoal braziers and live music to create a magical environment.

This event and the “Flowers by Candlelight” evenings during the summer draw on a tradition marked for over 100 years here. They commemorate the visit by the Empress Eugenie of France in 1896 when she walked through the gardens to bathe beside the pier, her way lit by candles.

There was an amazing magical atmosphere to the event and we managed to get a few great photographs despite the tricky conditions.

Just trying out this link from Flickr. Last weekend we took a trip to the pretty village of Sway in the New Forest. We walked around the country lanes, ate a gorgeous lunch (brocolli and stilton soup, mmm!) at the Hare & Hounds pub and found this pretty little church.

I just had an email from someone wishing to purchase two of my photographs. What a great feeling to know they will be hanging on someone’s wall in Cardiff soon! Such lovely comments she made too, isn’t it nice to be appreciated. It certainly spurs me on to get out with the camera more.

I put a gallery page on Photobox ages ago which hasn’t been updated recently but seems it is still looked at. Perhaps I should put a few recent pics there, as well as on Flickr which I am using now and finding great fun. Photobox is the site we use for printing photos – can not fault them, great prices, excellent quality and super fast turnaround.

I had gorgeous bouquet of flowers given to me as a leaving gift from my little part time job. After appreciating them all week I saw some possiblities for macro photos (before they go over!) and the sunlight streaming through the window late this afternoon was perfect to experiment. I took this photograph in Vichy and manipulated it to make it more interesting. I like black & white photos where just one element is colour tinted and it worked quite well with this picture.

When it is dry I will go out and take photographs but whilst the rain is pelting down I can do little but grab things lying around the house to take an interest in instead. Here’s some fruit!
