Perhaps instead of a smarter mount, another layer if device drivers.
Perhaps someone could create a device /dev/zip that redirects calls to
itself to the correct /dev/sdax. Same for Jaz and other removables. What
about a shell script that scans all the possible partition numbers and
mounts the first one it finds valid or something like that?
