   thank you for your detailed reply. Yes, it probably is an old thing, I
guess 4-7 years old (all the parts are "sm" [Surface Mounted]).

   Is there somewhere a "software probe" for Linux which could tell me
whether that device is SPP or EPP or what ? Is there somewhere a URL
that would tell me what is "SPP" and "EPP" ?

  I don't have any software for it. I emailed info@dotop.com.tw, but got
no answer (yet).
