Beware: there are some misleading things on this page:

Download and unpack the Linux kernel. During the configuration it is
        important to set the following:

Most current distributions come with these modules pre-built. You don't need
to build a kernel.

in "Floppy, IDE, and other devices" section:
              - y - Include IDE/ATAPI CDROM support
              - y - SCSI emulation support

SCSI emulation support is NOT required for pg.

              - y - Loopback device support
              - m - Parallel port IDE device support

This is the pd driver, you don't need it for a CD-R or CD-ROM

              - m - Parallel port ATAPI CD-ROMs
              - m - Parallel port ATAPI disks (?)

That's the pf driver, it is for LS-120 and PD drives. Not relevant.

              - m - Parallel port generic ATAPI devices
              - m - Shuttle EPAT/EPEZ protocol
         in "SCSI support"
              - y - SCSI support
              - y - SCSI CD-ROM support
              - y - SCSI generic support

SCSI support is NOT required at all.

Make device file with the script from
                http://www.torque.net/parport/paride.html

That script is in Documentation/paride.txt and in drivers/block/paride/mkd
but most distributions now have the device nodes already.

         download the source from
                ftp://ftp.fokus.gmd.de/pub/unix/cdrecord/cdrecord-1.6.tar.gz

That's the wrong version of cdrecord. 1.6.1 is the current stable version
and it includes all the necessary support for pg. No patching is required.

download the required interface module from
                ftp://ftp.torque.net/pub/scsi-linux-pg.c
(Please note: This file is no longer available. Probably because
the new version of cdrecord 1.8, which now is in alpha state,
         already includes it.

1.6.1 also includes the interface module. The patches were only required for
a few weeks about a year ago.
