When you load pd, please add "verbose=1" and then report the relevant
messages from your kernel log. You can use 'dmesg' to get the most
recent messages.
There is a problem with the parallel port on some "UDB" motherboards.
It's a recurring topic here. If you have a spare PCI slot, get an
add-in parallel port like the Lava card. Even if it worked, I think
the UDB port is only SPP.
