You can do zlilo (or is it Zlilo or zLilo). It will then be copied to your
bootdirectory and it will be used at the next bootup.

What errors do you get?
If you do 'insmod ppscsi', does it ask for ppscsi? If it does then this module
is not available in /lib/modules. Then you should build them properly.
