I *think* your information is outdated. I know the drives have no problems
    formatting 1MB(720KB), 2MB(1.44MB) and 120MB(raw is something like 125MB I
think) media. I know I've used mkfs.msdos on 120MB media and it's formatted it
correctly except for one value which IMHO isn't particularly important. (more
accurately, it's important but the OS reads it and uses the different value
correctly). I think that prior at (approximately) 18 months ago the DOS and
Windows drivers had some issues w/ formatting but at some point a filter driver
was added. (for reasons beyond my grasp) I was into reading boot sectors at the
time and the FAT16 format provided by mkfs.msdos was just peachy (except for the
    # of cylinders for the drive but that shouldn't matter much for the reason I
    listed above, imho).

Anyhoo ... I'll look at it and if no one has posted a response w/ the info I'll
    post it a little later.

My information may no longer be current, but it used to be the case that
LS120 drives were not physically capable of formatting media. This
was certainly true of the original Matsushita drives.

If the capability is now present - it would be accessed through the
SCSI format command via the ATAPI interface. For a PARIDE device, this
would have to be done with a special program that accesses the drive
    through the 'pg' interface.
