Hello,
I'm sorry if this is a FAQ, but I've read all that I can about this
problem, and haven't been able to solve it, so I'm posting to this list.
I'm running Linux 2.2.13mdk (Mandrake), as installed, so I haven't
recompiled. I have a Zip100 drive in the parallel port, with no printer
attached. If I login as root, and do 'insmod parport', followed by 'insmod
ppa', then I can access the Zip drive, as can all users:
/etc/fstab:
/dev/sda4 /mnt/zip vfat users... 0 1
/etc/conf.modules:
alias scsi_hostadapter ppa
My problem is, I want to allow users to mount and unmount the Zip, and this
just doesn't seem to work. As I said before, the drive works fine
(read/write) if I mount as root. I'm sure this is a FAQ, but I've read
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/kmod.txt, parpart.txt, and modules.txt. I'm
not using kerneld, but kmod instead, if that's relevant.
Does anyone know of an obvious reason this shouldn't be working, or what
file I'm forgetting to modify?
Thanks!
Jeff
