Tim,
Unloading VMware was helpful, I no longer get the resource busy error. I
am unfortunately still getting garbled output to the printer. If you have
additional advice I would appreciate it.
For example:
#echo "hello, world" > /dev/lp0
returns
"hellol`worldJ" from the printer.
