In my CVS-diff patch is the current suite of ppscsi drivers. vpi0 is
the one that will replace ppa.

Can you apply this patch, recompile with VPI0 instead of PPA, and see
if that makes a difference? If you compile it as modules it'll be
easier to do further tests too.
