    Hi All,

    Thank you for your help. Especially Tim. I turns out that my printer cable was bad.

    The printer showed data going to the printer and when I tested it, I didn't use the same cable on the computer. The output of the printer was garbled text with many ` characters.

     I will no longer discount the possibility of a bad manufactured cable.
