the line in conf.modules does read exactly that:
>more /etc/conf.modules
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
regarding the documentation, the first thing i tried was man conf.modules,
but there was no entry. i then set it working on man -K conf.modules and
pulled up some interesting stuff, but i really wanted an overview.
does the fact that i am missing documentation imply that something is not
right?

ps, do all posts from parport have [PARPORT] in the subject? is this so i
can use procmail to redirect them?
