    Ok, it was the "host0" parameter that I was missing. Thanks. Everything is
    working now. I have not had any conflicts with the ide-scsi driver, so I
    can't duplicate the problem you are having. Here's how I am set up:

    Kernel 2.4.0-test12 patched with Tim Waugh's CVS repository (from his page
    at http://people.redhat.com/twaugh/parport).

    For the kernel config, I've got:

    # Parallel port support:
    CONFIG_PARPORT=y
    CONFIG_PARPORT_PC=y
    CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_FIFO=y
    CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_SUPERIO=y
    CONFIG_PARPORT_1284=y

    # SCSI support
    CONFIG_SCSI=m
    # SCSI support type
    CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SR=m
    CONFIG_SR_EXTRA_DEVS=2
    CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG=m

    # SCSI low-level drivers
    CONFIG_PPSCSI=m
    CONFIG_PPSCSI_ONSCSI=m

    Manuel,

    I am not sure if the dmesg output from my system will help, since I am using
    different kernel and driver code, but I am including it anyway.
