    Hello,

    My /var/log/messages reports the following, as I modprobe for paride, epat and pg:

    [root@greymalkin /root]# modprobe paride
    [root@greymalkin /root]# modprobe epat
    [root@greymalkin /root]# modprobe pg

    Mar 8 18:30:00 greymalkin CROND[1911]: (root) CMD ( /sbin/rmmod -as)
    Mar 8 18:30:00 greymalkin kernel: paride: version 1.05 installed
    Mar 8 18:30:03 greymalkin kernel: paride: epat registered as protocol 0
    Mar 8 18:30:06 greymalkin kernel: pg: pg version 1.02, major 97
    Mar 8 18:30:06 greymalkin kernel: pg0: epat 1.01, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x378, mode 1 (5/3), delay 1
    Mar 8 18:30:18 greymalkin kernel: pg0: HP CD-Writer+ 7200, slave

    only...

    [root@greymalkin /root]# cdrecord -scanbus
    Cdrecord 1.9 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2000 Jörg Schilling
    Using libscg version 'schily-0.1'
    scsibus0:
    cdrecord: Inappropriate ioctl for device. Cannot send SCSI cmd via ioctl

    now, including any of the following modules hasn't helped me so far:

    [root@greymalkin drivers]# ls scsi/
    imm.o ppa.o sd_mod.o sg.o sr_mod.o

    On my kernel (I am using 2.4.2 currently), I have:

    ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL support --->
            IDE, ATA and ATAPI Block devices --->
                    <*> SCSI emulation support
    SCSI support --->
            <*> SCSI support
            <M> SCSI disk support
            <M> SCSI CD-ROM support
            <M> SCSI generic support
    Block devices --->
            <M> Parallel port IDE device support
            <M> Parallel port IDE disks
            <M> Parallel port ATAPI CD-ROMs
            <M> Parallel port ATAPI disks
            <M> Parallel port generic ATAPI devices
            <M> Shuttle EPAT/EPEZ protocol

    NOTE: I can mount a cdrom on the drive when using modprobe pcd instead of modprobe pg.

    What may I be doing wrong???

    Yours truly, rms
