Hi everybody,
When I load the parport modules for my tape drive (HP
Colorado 5GB external) the only line which is in the
/var/log/messages is the following:
modprobe: can't locate module parport_lowlevel
Do I need this module ??
I load the modules without any other error messages.
The modules are:
insmod parport.o
insmod paride.o
insmod epat.o
insmod pt.o
Then, I think I could make a small backup copy like
this:
tar -cvf /dev/pt0 /tmp/myfile.txt
However, when now I try to see the content of the tape
with:
tar -tf /dev/pt0
I receive the following:
tar: Read error on /dev/pt0: Input/output error
tar: At beginning of tape, quitting now
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Do I need to format the time in any way before being
able to record something on it ?? The tape is a HP
C4429 Data Cartridge PREFORMATTED, however maybe has a
format for DOS O.S. and not ext2 valid for Linux.
Please, any help will be apreciate.
Thanks in advance.
