    hi,
i got an Agfa SnapScan 310P, it works find with win95 and the eppscsi miniport
driver, so i thought it must be possible to get it to work under linux either.

so i found the sane homepage, and found out that the scsi version is supported
    but parallel version is not.

next i found the eppscsi homepage

i compiled a new kernel (2.4.8) with the ppscsi patch, etc... but i think
i need a special driver for the snapscan don't i?

i got the modules loaded, including ppscsi.o, but i'm not sure what
    "protocol module" i need.

         t348: a protocol module for the APA-348 and T348
         t358: a protocol module for the APA-358 and T358
epsa2: a protocol module for the (old) Shuttle EPSA-2
epst: a protocol module for the Shuttle EPST and APA-1350
onscsi: a protocol module for the OnSpec 90c26
sparcsi: a protocol module for the SparCSI and ParaSCSI

i tried epst, but (of course) it didn't work, its just for HP scanners i think

i found the following in my syslog:

first the parport is detected (i put it in EPP mode and ECP mode and EXTENDED
    in the BIOS, nothing works.)

    parport0: PC-style at 0x378 [PCSPP(,...)]

then when trying to load epst:

    Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: 0x378 is parport0
Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: version code reads: 0x88
    Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: port 0x378 mode 0 test failed (1,-1,0)
Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: version code reads: 0x50
    Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: port 0x378 mode 1 test failed (1,-1,0)
Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: version code reads: 0xff
    Aug 16 15:21:03 phat kernel: epst.0: port 0x378 mode 2 test failed (1,-1,0)

    so any ideas?

do i just need a protocol module for the snapscan?

    TIA,

    ciao,
    schrat
