[PARPORT] [ANNOUNCE] preZIP for creating mini distributions

I have just uploaded a disk image which can be used to create a dual format
ZIP disk (MS-DOS / Linux) which will allow the disk to boot linux on a
"foriegn machine". (eg: Show Linux to your friends or as a debugging tool)

http://www.torque.net/~campbell/ppa/preZIP.dsk

NOTE:
You need rawrite to copy this image to a floppy, the kernel on this disk is
extremely minimal for safety reasons (no IDE support to ensure HDD are left
untouched). Only supports parallel port ZIP drives (parallel and ZIP Plus).

The disk image does not start an installation process, rather it sets up the
disk for more conventional distribtution installs.

USAGE:
Insert ZIP disk to be "formatted" into ZIP drive, floppy disk into A: and reboot,
follow the instructions and several minutes later you have a ZIP disk with a
small MS-DOS area and a much larger ext2fs section for installing RedHat or
Debian.

I have not got any hints on how to install RedHat or Debian on the ZIP disk at
this stage. I will be working on the RedHat installation real soon (perhaps
this afternoon). Since this is an alpha release any suggestions are most
welcome.

PS: I have to rush off soon, shouted HPA [Peter Anvin] to lunch
