The syntax dev=/dev/pg0 is not correct, as far as I know. See
cdrecord's man page for examples of correct device names (I use
dev=1,0,0 with my HP 7100e).
You can also try "cdrecord -scanbus" to see what cdrecord is able to
detect.
One last thing: did you remember to create /dev/pg0?
