Hello everybody!
After thorough research (this list, among other resources) I recently
bought a HP 7200e external, parallellport CDRW-unit. I have followed all
the instructions I have found here and there about compiling the kernel (I
have compiled in pg-support), creating the devices and using cdrecord.
As the following lines will tell you, the unit is detected and setup
correctly at boot time.
-- paride: epat registered as protocol 0 pg: pg version 1.02s, major 97 pg0: epat 1.01, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x378, mode 2 (8-bit), delay 1 pg0: HP CD-Writer+ 7200, slave--However, I still have problems writing to CDs with the unit. With CDRWs I get the following error when trying the command: # cdrecord -v -data -dummy -speed=1 dev=0,0 rh52
-- Waiting for reader process to fill input-buffer ... input-buffer ready. Starting new track at sector: 0 cdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: retryable error CDB: 2A 00 00 00 03 90 00 00 10 00 status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) Sense Bytes: F0 00 03 00 00 00 00 19 00 03 51 F5 0C 09 00 00 00 00 Sense Key: 0x3 Medium Error, Segment 0 Sense Code: 0x0C Qual 0x09 (write error - loss of streaming) Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (valid) cmd finished after 0.738s timeout 40swrite track data: error after 1867776 bytes Sense Bytes: F0 00 00 00 00 00 00 19 00 03 56 95 00 00 00 00 00 00 Writing time: 18.226s cdrecord: fifo had 185 puts and 58 gets. cdrecord: fifo was 0 times empty and 2 times full, min fill was 73%.
--With CDRs, cdrecord gets past the -dummy tests, but when I tried the following I got the posted errors after a number of tracks (audio cd): # cdrecord -audio -pad -speed=1 dev=0,0 track*
-- cdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: retryable error CDB: 2A 00 00 05 1C F3 00 00 0D 00 status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) Sense Bytes: F0 00 05 00 00 00 00 19 00 08 01 61 63 00 00 00 00 00 Sense Key: 0x5 Illegal Request, Segment 0 Sense Code: 0x63 Qual 0x00 (end of user area encountered on this track) Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (valid) resid: 30576 cmd finished after 0.006s timeout 40s write track data: error after 12444432 bytes Sense Bytes: F0 00 02 00 00 00 00 19 00 08 02 BE 04 08 00 00 00 00 cdrecord: faio_wait_on_buffer for writer timed out.--Now to my questions: * Any explanations that would explain these? * Anybody get their HP 7200e och Philips CD3610 working with a Dell Optiplex? * I saw something about problems with parallellports that cannot be set to EPP, only PS/2 or AT. Did you guys figure out what to do about this? Did you solve it? The thread just kind of died... * Would using modules instead of compiled-in pg-support help me in any way?
All help would be appreciated...
