Here is the new message it prints now in dmesg:

p->modes: 0
p->modes: 0
lp: driver loaded but no devices found

The parport_probe still doesn't print anything about devices it finds,
nor is there anything in /proc/parport...normally if it loads, there is
a "0" directory showing some stuff in there.
