Subject: Reverse Engineering DOS/Windows 3.1/95/98/NT drivers
Importance: High
Hi,
I think it would be useful to provide information on
techniques which may be used to reverse engineer Windows
driver on the linux-parport web site (http://www.torque.net/parport/).
The following methods come to mind:
Disassemble windows driver using e.g. IDA
(http://sunsite.doc.ic.ac.uk/pub/packages/simtelnet/msdos/disasm/ida37fw.zip
) or
Capture parallel port I/O using:
WINE (won't work for VXDs/NT drivers) (http://www.winehq.com)
Bochs (http://www.bochs.com)
DOSEMU (http://www.dosemu.org)
Portmon (http://www.sysinternals.com)
Also there should be link to
http://www.redhat.com:8080/HyperNews/get/devices/parport.html
for example.
