[PARPORT] getting the port to share

Since my post on June 12 I still cannot get the port to share. I am
running Doslinux version 84 with updates applied and plan to go to
version 85 but I wish someone would tell me what I am doing wrong before
I start from scratch again. I did install modutils-2.2.2-pre6.tar.gz
but saw no improvement over 2.1.121. The only change I noticed is that
now it gets the cpu speed wrong sometimes.

The following shows a dmesg file that is good as it gets. I cannot do
this consistently. Sometimes, possibly when Linux hangs and I cut
power, DOS will not recognize my cdrom on boot even though it is on. I
think it is at these times that Linux sees my printer is there and also
allows me to access my Backback Cdrom mode 1, delay 4, and my EZflyer
mode 2 delay 1. But no amount of resets, cycling devices, change order
of load, allows me to see any two devices at once. A good dmesg with
even cpu speed correct follows:

Linux version 2.2.6 (Linux version 2.2.6 (root@DosLinux) (gcc version egcs-2.91.60 Debian 2.1

The above was with the port set to bidirectional. I did try EPP.
Nothing worked. The system hung after probing mode 2 for my ezflyer.

In a more typical boot my printer is not seen and I can access my cdrom
or ezflyer mode 0. The beginning of a dmesg follows:

Help would be greatly appreciated. No one replied to my first post. I
thought it might be for lack of information so forgive me if this post
is too long, or not long enough.

I am willing to try recompiling a kernel if I have some indications of
what would help. My first post had configuration information. Should
printer be a module?
