[ I emailed about whether this drive worked last November and decided
some weeks ago just to try it and see - it does apart from the small
problem described below. Thanks go to Grant for all his parallel port
work].
Having got the CDD3610 working, burning a few different types of
information to rewritables, I decided to plug the external sound ports
to the sound card's input and try playing a music CD from
it. Unfortunately, cdplay (from cdtools) returns the following message
and the CD doesn't play :-
cdplay: ioctl cdromplaytrkind
cdir and cdinfo work but no play.
Here is the dmesg output using verbose=3 :-
Linux version 2.2.10 (Linux version 2.2.10 (root@grannyogg) (gcc version egcs-2.91.66 Debian GNU/Linux (egcs-1.1.2 release)) #1 Sat Jul 17 19:35:58 CEST 1999
....
** First using following in conf.modules :-
alias char-major-97 pcd
pre-install pcd sh -c "insmod epat"
post-remove pcd sh -c "rmmod epat; rmmod paride"
options pcd drive0=0x378,0,0,5,-1,0 verbose=3
#options pcd verbose=3
gives :-
