This looks like an aborted transfer when parport_probe tried to retrieve
the Device ID. After that, the drive might be all confused.
Try renaming /lib/modules/`uname -r`/misc/parport_probe.o to something
else so that it doesn't get automatically loaded. Then, make sure
all modules are unloaded, and try again.
