[PARPORT] HELP, How do I install parport? (NEWBIE)

Hi all,

Forgive my ignorance, but I downloaded ftp://ftp.torque.net/pub/parport/patch-2.2.13-ppdev4.gz
and I notice that it is just a bunch of diff output. How do I apply this patch?

I'm assuming I need to download the kernel source, and then recompile a new
kernel? But then, how do I apply the above patch?

I have Debian2.1, 2.0.36.

Please help me out!
