[PARPORT] ppa .config?

Hi. I'm connecting a Zip drive to my laptop and when I try to install ppa using make like Campbell said in his README I get a no such file return from make. He has an include statement with a .config that I just have not seen anywhere near my kernel source. What is that thing? and how can I supplement it?
