Tim,
thanks for your quick response, but still no clue...

Yes, positive.
It is conf.modules, modules.conf does not exist.

No strange characters anywhere.

Result looks allright? (I have here the post-install in effect)
lilblue:~ # modprobe -c |grep parport
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=none
post-install parport /sbin/modprobe parport_pc
Loading parport_pc just doesn't work - modprobe gives the same error as
/var/log/messages:
lilblue:~ # modprobe parport_pc
lilblue:~ # /2.2.7/misc/parport_pc.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
/lib/modules/2.2.7/misc/parport_pc.o: insmod
/lib/modules/2.2.7/misc/parport_pc.
o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.7/misc/parport_pc.o: insmod parport_pc failed
During bootup there are some messages from cardmgr/Intel PCIC probe (I think)
like:
cs: IO port probe 0x1000-0x17ff: excluding 0x15e8-0x15ef
(and 2 more)
but none of these would interfere with 0x378.
I suppose this is not related in any way, but I did not specify
floppy=thinkpad (pc is thinkpad 770) as it works without it.
What now?
Ernst
