thanks for the help everyone (and the reasurance, Richard)
ok, i messed up that paste job. i really did have the c on the end so that
i am using the same line as Richard . ie:
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
however, this isnt solving the problem.
perhaps to do with some errors that are turning up when i boot. they are to
do with ELF headers.
when i try a
#insmod -v parport (or parport0)
i get this messge:
/lib/modules/2.2.12-20/misc/parport: error reading ELF header: No such file
or d
irectory
but when i check out where this is pointing , these are the files present:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6 Mar 1 16:10 parport
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 14274 Mar 5 20:53 parport.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6 Mar 10 12:36 parport0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6 Mar 1 16:10 parport_pc
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9584 Mar 5 20:53 parport_pc.o
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5644 Mar 5 20:53 parport_probe.o
so the file is there, but it looks very small...
any ideas?
thanks again, Matt
