I have been trying to get my old (pre-imm) parallel ZIP drive to work with
a Lava PCI Dual Parallel card with absolutely no luck. The ZIP drive works
fine if I use the motherboard's parallel port (parport0), but that is not
an operational option. I can successfully use an HP Laserjet II printer on
parport1 or parport2 (the Lava ports), but not the ZIP. I am using kernel
2.2.16, and have also tried the latest 2.3 beta with the same failure.
When I "modprobe ppa" and then "mount -t vfat /dev/sda4 /mnt/zip" I get
    the following from dmesg:

    parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778) [SPP,ECP,ECPEPP,ECPPS2]
parport0: detected irq 7; use procfs to enable interrupt-driven operation.
    parport1: PC-style at 0xa400 [SPP,PS2,EPP]
    parport2: PC-style at 0xa000 [SPP,PS2,EPP]
    parport_probe: succeeded

Any help will be most welcome, as I have tried everything I can think of.

    Thanks,
        Peter Roach

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it
will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
