This is just a guess, but have you tried it without the zip drive? My
5200C and my zip drive do not get along at all... After fighting with it for
weeks I moved the zip to another machine and use it over the network.
You might also try setting the port to just "EPP" mode in the bios,
as ECP isn't terribly useful at the moment...
