Hi all
I had problem with my ATI RAGE MOBILITY -P AGP display adaptor when I was
tring to install Solaris 8 x86
into my laptop ( COMPAQ ARMADA E500).Having a lot of suggestions, I
downloaded XFree86 4.0.1 and installed it. After installation did this:
( dtlogin stopped of course , dtconfig -d 'ed as well )
#XFree86 -configure
After a lot of
(IILoading BLAH BLAH
(II) Module BLAH BLAH
things , this messages came up:
Xree86 detected your mouse at device /dev/mouse.
lease check your config if the mouse is still not
perational, as by default XFree86 tries to autodetect the protocol.
our XF86Config file is //XF86Config.new
to test the serverrun 'XFree86 -xf86config //XF86Config.new'
It seemsto be completed successfully. As it says , to test the server now I
am running :
#XFree86 -xf86config //XF86Config.new
and each time I do this,screen totaly goes black .. It runs the display
driver but just hangs and never does anything at all.
I am not really familiar with XFree86 , I might have done everything so far
correctly , but really need to know
what is next now. There are no any deeper explanation in installation
notes. Your help will be greately appreciated and of course I'll
certainly summarise..
