The fact that libscg has been completely restructured is not the reason.
It is most likely a binary incompatibility. I recently got a repsonse from
a usr who had problems with a cdrecod binary RPM for RH-6.2 that did
not run properly on RH-6.2
It seems that you (in general) cannot use binaries compiled on other
machines. Always compile cdrecord by yourself. I am sad to be forced to
say this and I added a note to README.linux in cdrtools-1.10a08
