    I figured it out, sorry. I feel dumb now. The parallel port connector inside
    had come loose while installing a new hard drive for Linux. DOH!
    Once I reconnected it, and used the pd driver all works fine. At lease I
    learned a lot about parport and paride. Thanks for help anyway.
