valid. Parallel scanners under Linux has its own page located at
http://www.buzzard.org.uk/jonathan/scanners.html
You scanner is *NOT* supported because your manufacturer won't release the
scanner's protocol information. Sorry. You'll have to get another scanner.
(And, send Agfa a letter saying you'll never buy another product from them
again.)
