Hello. Does any one have any ideas what the problem might be with par0
    on the above kernel?

It's not seeing the device, which is there, and I followed instruct. in
parport.txt for building the driver into the kernel. Can anyone tell
from the following info whether I missed something, or if this might be
    a bug?

    Any input greatly appreciated.

    debian:/usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.14# ls -l /dev/par*
    crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 0 Oct 18 2000 /dev/par0
    crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 1 Oct 18 2000 /dev/par1
    crw-rw---- 1 root lp 6, 2 Oct 18 2000 /dev/par2

Driver is in the kernel - here's relevant config/other details:

    Checkpc -f:
    Warning - ** cannot open '/var/log/lp-errs' - 'Permission denied'
    Warning - ** cannot open '/var/log/lp-acct' - 'Permission denied'
Warning - lp: cannot open lp device '/dev/par0' - No such device

    cat /proc/interrupts:
      4: 12139 XT-PIC serial
     10: 0 XT-PIC via82cxxx

    cat /proc/ioports:
    0378-037a : parport0
