I tried this but with the above options I didn't get a parport
    recognized at all:

parport 0x378 (WARNING): CTR: wrote 0x0c, read 0x0b
    parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,ECP,DMA]

While when I call with io=...,0xc4000 and io_hi=...,none I get:
parport 0xc400 (WARNING): CTR: wrote 0x0c, read 0x0d
parport 0xc400 (WARNING): DATA: wrote 0xaa, read 0x00
parport 0xc400: You gave this address, but there is probably no parallel port there!
    parport1: PC-style at 0xc400 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,EPP]

    Hmm. Still nothing here.

Slowly I believe that the card is broken -- and somehow windows can use
it and not linux. No idea why?

    Best wishes

    Norbert
