I've made a new diff available which has spinlocks in place of the
save_and_cli's (among a few other tiny changes).
Let me know if it works for you. Linus seems to have lost the patch that
Phil sent, so it looks like he'll get this one instead. It's against
clean 2.1.79, but will apply to any of the latest kernels.
