[PARPORT] Linux Parallel

I'm some-what new to the Linux world and I'm trying to install RedHat 5.0 on my laptop. I'm using my friends Backpack parallel CD-ROM to install from. The setup program that comes with RedHat 5 does not recognize my parallel CD-ROM. The only way I can install RedHat is though the external CD-ROM, so this is my only choice. I do I get RedHat to recognize my CD-ROM?
