hi

I'm having some problems with a SparQ 1.0 GB attached to a parallel
port... i have too parallel ports on the motherboard... one using the
built in parallel port... set to EPP mode... and another add-on card... at
0x278... also set to EPP mode

now... what happens... i try to unzip some src on the SparQ drive... and
i'll get CRC errors... would wouldn't occur if i do this on the hard drive
connected directly to the mother board... also... there would be some
compile errors... if the source is compiled on the SparQ... which wouldn't
occur if the source were compiled on the hard drive connected to the ide
port on the motherboard

also... i would get filesystem errors... and would have to run fsck... to
fix the inodes

another thing that is interesting... is that when linux is booted...
sometimes... mode 2 is chosen...

pda: epat 1.0, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x278, mode 2 (8-bit), delay 1

or sometimes... mode 5 is chosen...

pda: epat 1.0, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x278, mode 5 (EPP-32), delay 1

I'm using paride... which came with kernel 2.1.102 source code... also...
this is what the append statement from lilo.conf looks like...

append="lp=0 pd.drive0=0x278,0,0,-1"

Pat.
