Do you have the dmesg output for that ? If there are still messages from
the pd driver, then it didn't get disabled. If it was successfully
disabled, nothing in PARIDE will have touched your port.

Please understand: we need to fix this, no matter which part of the
PARPORT/PARIDE subsystems it occurs in. You're going to get different
requests from each of us, the aim of which is to isolate the circumstances
under which the problem happens.
