[PARPORT] HP7200e CD-RW via parallel port on Toshiba 660CDT

Hallo Grant,

I'm somewhat desperate! This weekend I tried again nearly all kinds of
parallel port settings to write a CD but in vain. I always get the same
I/O error. The strange thing is that now with a lot of power cycling between
changes of setting I can load the pg driver only for bidirectional mode
(I have not tried unidirectional). Neither EPP nor ECP mode accept the pg
driver even with the default setting (delay = 1). I also get now error messages
from cdrecord saying the the device is hung and should be power cycled or it
cannot set speed/dummy. Power cycling does not help at all. These errors are
not reproducable (sometimes they happen, sometimes not).

How shall I proceed? I need to do urgently copies of satellite data to CD.
The drive works ok on Windows95 (why all the hardware is always prepared for
this stupid OS). Is there a way to see my LinUX partitions on Windows95?

Or better, do you have any idea how I can solve the problem on LinUX?

Am I really the first person trying to connect an HP7200e to a Toshiba notebook
via the parallel port?
                                                                     Michel
