Hi,

>From the information I gothered from linux parallel ide web side, the
HP CD writer 7200e is supported, but I can't get it work. This is what
I have done:

Compiled paride, pg, pcd all as modules, then

insmod paride
insmod epat
insmod pg drive0="0x378,0,0,-1,-1,0"

kernel displayed

Dec 8 16:09:39 yangtze kernel: pg0: Sharing parport0 at 0x378
Dec 8 16:09:39 yangtze kernel: pg0: epat 1.01, Shuttle EPAT chip c6 at 0x378, mode 0 (4-bit), delay 0
Dec 8 16:09:41 yangtze kernel: pg0: HP CD-Writer+ 7200, slave

Then I got cdrecord-1.8 compiled, then tried it as

cdrecord dev=/dev/pg0 -inq

I got

Cdrecord release 1.8a14 Copyright (C) 1995-1998 Jörg Schilling
scsidev: '/dev/pg0'
devname: '/dev/pg0'
scsibus: -2 target: -2 lun: -2
/opt/schily/bin/cdrecord: Not a typewriter. Cannot open SCSI driver.

What I did wrong?

Thanks

Dong.

BTW, my kernel is 2.1.131 unpatched.
