No, it doesn't. It also doesn't take WriteThreshold into account, or cope
with errors yet.
Actually, it polls for a few tens of microseconds to see if the FIFO is
completely empty, and if so it bursts a FIFO-full. With my printer, this
succeeds almost every time. I'm not sure how much of a win this is
though.
