I’ve just released version 1.2.1 of system-config-printer. One of the changes is that it now uses the D-Bus API of the Fedora firewall tool to actually make firewall adjustments that it needs.

I ran across your blog when I wanted to file a bug on system-config-printer for the Cancel Job dialog who is confusing me a bit because of the Yes/No questions. The GNOME HIG also recommends against using them.
Maybe
[ Cancel ] [ Adjust firewall ]
here instead.
Very cool!
Yes/No buttons are evil, you know that? Using descriptive button names (like “Allow/Cancel”, “Allow/Disallow”, etc) is much better.
Fantastic feature, Tim! This is a good solution to the ongoing battle between the browse feature and the firewall system.
