A friend of mine owns a Epson Stylus Photo 700 and the autodetect on
bootup (means the IEEE1284 device ID read) works pretty well. This
means the IEEE1284 works okay for this Epson printer. Epson states in
the manual that it's printers are IEEE-1284 compatible.
On HP printers (my own printer HP6MP) normal readback works again
since I've applied the patch I mailed to you yesterday.
