That's because /dev/pg0 is not a block device :-)
If you want to mount a CD-ROM for reading, use the 'pcd' driver.
If you want to "burn" a CD-R using the 7200, then you must use the
pg driver AND the 'cdrecord' program. CD-R is more like a tape than
a disk.
Now, you may perhaps have encountered the Adaptec "Direct CD" program
for Windows. There is nothing similar for Linux at this time.
