Of course, the tape is probably the slowest device since it is sequentiel,
but, if you thing that a SCSI board can deliver about 20MB/sec. (some can
deliver 40MB but they are very expensives), and that some tape device have a
good buffer, also that you could do that in background at lower priority (on a
SCSI device), you will make a backup in a good time...say about 4-8 hours for
14GB data.

Now, for the parallel port point of view, when I copy somes files from my hard
drive to my SyQuest parallel port, my mouse freeze because there is to much
interrupt request in order to achieve the copie request!!!

So my advise would be; buy one only if you can't pay for a better solution,
because I would expect it V E R Y V E R Y S L O W !!! :-|

And I would be curious to know if you can do anything else with your computer
while you're making a backup...For my part, when I copy a directory or when I
install a software (big one that take to much space) into a catridge of my
SyQuest EZ230, I am sitting in front of my screen, waiting... waiting...
waiting... :-(

I't make me remember the old days with my COMMODORE 64 and my TAPE DRIVE!!!

20 minutes to save my BASIC program of say, about 10-20Kb !!!!

Those days was the goods ones... ;-)
