[PARPORT] getting my burner to burn

I just recompiled my kernel with the drivers etc... for my paride
burner to work. The burner is located on startup:

pg: pg version 1.02, major 97
request_module[parport_lowlevel]: Root fs not mounted
request_module[parport_lowlevel]: Root fs not mounted
pg0: epia 1.02, Shuttle EPIA at 0x378, mode 0 (4-bit), delay 1
pg0: IDE-CD ReWritable-2x2x6, slave

But I can't mount /dev/pg0. Is this normal? I tried "cdrecord
-scanbus" and got no response. Can someone please help?
