Scanners on UNIX -> check SANE, <URL:http://www.mostang.com/sane/>.

The Umax SANE backend gives this negative message:

 !!! There is no support for UMAX parallel port scanners and USB scanners !!!

  Umax does not give out any information about the parallel port and
  USB protocol. Write a mail to UMAX taiwan, if enough people do it,
  may be they will change their mind!

Sad.
